Because I Rely on Intuitive Life Coaching,
I Prefer Phone Coaching
Maybe They Are Looking for Intuitive
Life Coaching
Sometimes I get a call from a perspective client and they want someone in their area because they are not familiar with the fact that
most Coaches have phone relationships with their clients.
I started doing phone coaching when my husband and I ran a large personal growth and communication training company. Those therapists and corporate trainers that I taught and coached were scattered around the U.S. and in different countries.
As I became increasingly aware of my own personal process during this phone coaching,
I noticed also that I could connect on a very deep and special level and tune out the ruckus of a busy office.
I was becoming a spiritual Life Coach- learning to connect from my spirit to the person I was speaking to.
Since I am an easily distractible person, I learned to make sure I was not in front of my computer and had nothing special to visually focus on except plants or trees or something that did not engage my ever busy mind.
When I started taking on private personal life coaching clients, I continued to do phone coaching until the day I met a young mother of two-year-old quadruplets. She wanted to come to my house for coaching. No wonder! Her house had 4 two-year-olds and 3 nannies. We had a successful coaching experience but I noticed that I had to work much harder to stay focused and help her stay focused.
The visual experience of being in each other’s presence created some challenges for us. I believe because most of our experience with someone sitting our living room is both personal and social. She and I had become unconsciously habituated to socializing in a living room. I have never wanted a professional office to do private coaching. I suspect I'd still have to work hard to focus with someone sitting across a desk from me.
Now I know that when I put on my spiritual Life Coach hat, I prefer phone coaching. My focus and that of my clients' is singularly unique. It’s like we have those little cans connected by a string that we all wanted with our best friends when we were kids. That’s how I imagine my unique connection to my client and hers or his to me.
Try this. Next time you speak to a friend on the phone about anything of importance,
notice what you are doing while you speak. Are you playing computer games? Are you staring into space? Are your eyes closed? What is your telephone mode? See if changing your mode can improve your concentration.
"The last 6 months working with Maia has been the most effective personal development work I’ve ever done. And I’ve been doing personal growth work for 10 years! The Life Coaching experience has taught me to gain new perspectives and replaced the critical voice in my head. Maia will go to any lengths with her desire to help. She's running a business but I never feel like she's running a business. I knew we were an immediate fit as soon as we spoke. Her sincerity and authenticy just shines through."
